Caption a Reel from its public link

  • Copy the link to an individual Instagram Reel or video post. Photo-only posts have no spoken video to transcribe.
  • Pick the voice's language and the language you want viewers to read. Press Generate captions to fetch and transcribe the clip.
  • Correct the transcript in the editor, choose a readable style, and download the video with captions included.

Check a Reel with music and spoken instructions

A cooking Reel or product tutorial may mix a voiceover with background music. Listen to each instruction while reading its cue, especially quantities, model names and the order of steps. Singing and background voices can enter a transcript even when they are not part of the demonstration.

Preview the complete Reel after styling. If an ingredient label or product name is already written in the frame, move the spoken subtitles so both remain readable. Use your original recording when existing overlays leave too little space for a second text layer.

Leave room for the subject and the interface

Portrait framing makes placement part of the edit. Position captions where they do not hide a face, a recipe ingredient or a product demonstration. Leave margin around the edges and check a phone-sized preview rather than judging readability only on a large monitor.

Fast dialogue is easier to follow when each cue contains a complete thought. Split a crowded sentence into shorter timed cues and give the viewer time to read before the next shot. Avoid repeating text that is already prominent in the footage.

Repost with captions that travel with the video

The exported MP4 contains visible captions, so you do not need a separate subtitle attachment to preserve their appearance. This tool does not publish to Instagram or modify the original Reel. If you want a cleaner result than an imported copy, use your original recording in the file editor.

Common questions

Can I caption a private Reel?

The URL importer needs a publicly accessible video. It does not sign into Instagram. If you have the video file, upload it directly instead.

Are existing captions removed from a Reel?

No. Text already drawn into the video is part of its picture. Use an uncaptained source where possible, or place new captions so they do not overlap the existing words.

What is included in the free Reel trial?

You can generate captions for 3 videos a day without an account, or 5 with an account, each up to 120 seconds, shared across uploads and supported URL imports. Short free exports include a watermark. Upgrade to export without it or process longer videos.
