Start with the video post, not the profile

  • Copy the link to the X post containing the video. Both x.com and twitter.com links work; a profile or search URL does not identify a clip.
  • Choose the spoken language and, if needed, a different caption language. Generate captions fetches the video and starts transcription in one step.
  • Read through the transcript, adjust cue timing, and export a captioned MP4 to share as a new video.

Review quoted speech before reposting an X clip

For an interview excerpt, check where the quotation begins and ends. A subtitle that omits a qualifying word such as "might" or "not" can change the claim even when the rest of the sentence is accurate. Replay those cues with the audio before sharing.

If the post includes several speakers, preserve each speaker's phrasing rather than making the whole exchange read like one uninterrupted statement. Keep your commentary in the post text so viewers can distinguish it from the recorded speech.

Keep context in short news and reaction clips

A name, location or quoted sentence can carry the whole meaning of a short clip. Check those words against the recording before publishing, particularly when the speaker is off camera or background noise overlaps the voice.

Captions should describe what is said in the video. The text of the tweet is separate context and is not imported into the subtitle track. Add that context to your new post rather than silently inserting it as dialogue.

Make the words readable over a busy feed

Use a contrasting outline or subtitle background when the footage changes from light to dark. Preview the exported size and keep captions away from faces, scoreboards and existing lower-thirds. Download SRT or VTT as well if you need a separate subtitle file for another destination.

Common questions

Can this change subtitles on the original tweet?

No. It creates a new video file with captions drawn into its frames. Download that file and publish it yourself; the original X post stays as it was.

What if a tweet contains several videos?

Upload the specific video you want to caption in the editor. A post with multiple clips can be ambiguous, and this importer does not ask you to choose among them.

Can I try a short X clip for free?

Yes: 3 videos a day without an account, or 5 with an account, each up to 120 seconds. These jobs share the allowance used by file uploads. Free exports carry a watermark; upgrade for longer recordings and watermark-free video.
