About Asturian transcription

Asturian (Asturianu) is written in the Latin alphabet and spoken principally in Asturias, in northern Spain. Subtitles generated here come back in that script, as ordinary written Asturian, ready to use in an SRT or VTT file.

Asturian sits close enough to Spanish that automatic detection struggles between them, and most speakers move fluidly between the two within a conversation. Choosing Asturian explicitly is what keeps its own vocabulary and endings in the transcript instead of them being normalised toward Castilian.

Getting a better Asturian transcript

• Set the language to Asturian rather than leaving detection on, particularly for clips under a minute where there is little audio to judge from.
• Upload the highest-quality audio you have; compression artefacts cost more accuracy than most people expect.
• Check proper nouns, place names and numbers first — recognition errors concentrate there.
• Read the transcript before exporting. Asturian subtitles are editable up until you download them.
