About Gujarati transcription

Gujarati (ગુજરાતી) is written in the Gujarati script and spoken principally in Gujarat, in western India, and a large diaspora. Subtitles generated here come back in that script, as ordinary written Gujarati, ready to use in an SRT or VTT file.

The Gujarati script is closely related to Devanagari but drops the horizontal line along the top of each word, which is the quickest way to tell the two apart in a subtitle file. Business and trade recordings mix in English terms heavily, and those are transcribed as spoken rather than translated into Gujarati equivalents.

What people caption in Gujarati

The Gujarati material that comes through most often is business and news, devotional programming, vlogs and community media. All of it works the same way — upload the file, check the transcript, export the subtitle track.

Getting a better Gujarati transcript

• Set the language to Gujarati rather than leaving detection on, particularly for clips under a minute where there is little audio to judge from.
• Upload the highest-quality audio you have; compression artefacts cost more accuracy than most people expect.
• Check proper nouns, place names and numbers first — recognition errors concentrate there.
• Read the transcript before exporting. Gujarati subtitles are editable up until you download them.
