About Bengali transcription

Bengali (বাংলা) is written in the Bengali script and spoken principally in Bangladesh and West Bengal. Subtitles generated here come back in that script, as ordinary written Bengali, ready to use in an SRT or VTT file.

Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali differ in pronunciation and in some everyday vocabulary, and the written form is common to both, so a transcript reads naturally either way. Bengali's conjunct consonants make it visually dense — two-line subtitle blocks are worth keeping short.

What people caption in Bengali

Getting a better Bengali transcript

• Set the language to Bengali rather than leaving detection on, particularly for clips under a minute where there is little audio to judge from.
• Upload the highest-quality audio you have; compression artefacts cost more accuracy than most people expect.
• Check proper nouns, place names and numbers first — recognition errors concentrate there.
